Shore Beach Service sent 2 of our best athletes to Virginia Beach to vompete in the USLA National Championships.  Jan Hanzal and Leonardo Trevisan made Hilton Head proud, earning medals by taking 4th in the nation in the Men's Landline Rescue Rac, teaming with Chad Motz and Trentin Piwinski from the Outer Banks. Our men again teamed with the Outer Banks to get points in the Taplin Relay, with Jan's relay team placing 9th and Leo's earning 16th.  Our team's other points were won with Jan placing 14th in the Surf Race.   This was Shore's best performance in the USLA competition. 

Shore Beach Service started our Junior Lifeguard Program in thesummer of 2015.  We hope to continue restart the program in 2022 after a 2 year hiatus.

Our objective is to teach kids the value of water safety skills & physical fitness, while also educating them on various ocean conditions and marine wildlife found on Hilton Head Island. We provide a fun, safe place to grow, learn and build confidence while in the process teaching participants the importance of respecting themselves, others and the beach environment. This camp is also a great step for anyone who eventually wants to become a Hilton Head Island Beach Patrol lifeguard with Shore Beach Service.

Days consist of team building activities, workouts, and educational classes. Class sessions--most of which take place on the beach-- are geared towards informing kids of the various aspects of beach lifeguarding, first-aid, CPR, and marine wildlife. When they are not in class,  kids are be exposed to a wide range of physical activities. Our 2018 camps included a field trip for team building activities with Outside Hilton Head on Page Island.  We also train daily to demonstrate how lifeguards need to achieve physical fitness to accomplish ocean front duties. Team building activities will be lifeguarding related games that are geared to educate and have fun at the same time.   

If you have visited our beautiful beaches, you are probably familiar with us-we are the lifeguard and drive the red beach patrol vehicles. If you are new to Hilton Head Island, let us introduce ourselves and help you have a great vacation! Hilton Head Island is blessed with some of the safest waters on the east coast, as gentle sloping beaches and offshore sandbars generally create calm surf conditions. However, always be cautious in the ocean and please follow our beach safety tips and beach rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable day.
